From Mayari take a side road to the south, towards Santiago de Cuba, and drive in to the hills of Altiplanicie the Nipe

In this hills are many Cuban pine (Pinus cubensis, a endemic tree), and more than a hundred plants found only in Cuba

This rainy area is a botanical treasure, since the eighties is watched from a station of the Academy of Sciences

They also care about protecting the decimated number of rare animals

We were allowed to take a look inside a Cuban home

In eastern Cuba we were allowed to look in a dwelling

I found the bird house that was made ​​in the same style

as the houses very cute

The house had two small bedrooms and a living room / kitchen but no bathroom

No dishwasher but a dish rack on the wall

The clothing they had hung on nails on the wall

What a difference with our homes full of electrical appliances

and running water .....

Of course there were chickens in the garden as everywhere in Cuba

The houses were beautifully situated in a green area with beautiful views
