The journey from Guardalavaca to Holguin is beautiful

From Guardalavaca on the coast you go into the hills on a road which is in good condition

Here you see the Cuban peasants working on the banana plantations, gardens and orchards

Their thatched huts (bohios) are in small valleys with royal palms

On the green pastures graze cattle and sheep

On the roads in Cuba you have to watch out for potholes and animals

The road system in Cuba is mainly in the east of the country very bad

Roads are often unpaved and full of potholes

This crack we saw in a paved bridge in eastern Cuba

In Cuba you see very few road signs

Fortunately, there are more and more petrol stations

Make sure you have a good road map

Tank at each petrol station, because sometimes there is no fuel to be supplied

Generally the roads are very quiet, but you have to pay attention because sometimes there are suddenly a flock of sheep or cows on the road
