We found Guantánamo dull and unattractive

Guantánamo is a city in southeast Cuba and is the capital of
the province of Guantánamo

The city was founded in the 19th century by the French, who fled the
slave rebellion in Saint-Domingue (Haiti)

We found the city dull and unattractive but despite that few tourists come
here almost everyone knows Guantánamo

Firstly, the famous song Guantanamera and secondly because of the U.S. base
in Guantanamo Bay, 15 km from the city

You can see Guantánamo Bay in the distance

The municipality is mountainous in the north, where it overlays the
Sierra Maestra mountains, and borders the Windward Passage of the
Caribbean Sea in the south

It is crossed by the Guantánamo, Yateras, Guaso, San Andrés
and Sabanalamar rivers

Guantánamo has approximately 208,000 residents

The city is an important center for the sugar cane and coffee processing industry and has road and rail links with Santiago de Cuba

The port for the city is the place Caimanera that lies approximately 18 kilometers to the south
