Hotel El Castillo *** has stunning views on Baracoa

Hotel El Castillo *** is located in the old Spanish fort Fuerte de Soboruco from which the city and the bay could be kept an eye on

The rooms at the back, especially on the higher floors have wonderful views of the bay, the city and the anvil-shaped mountain Yunque

We were one of the lucky ones who had this wonderful view

My movie is filmed from our balcony of Hotel El Castillo

At the command of the Spanish governor-general, Don Francisco Guemes, the fort tooks  between 1739 and 1741 its present form, as one of the three forts that had to stop piracy

In 1900 Leonhard Wood, the former U.S. governor-general of Cuba, ordered the reconstruction of the Castillo

El Castillo hotel has 34 rooms that are spacious and clean and have air conditioning, TV, fridge, safe and a balcony

The hotel has a swimming pool with sun beds, restaurant and bar which offer nice views of the town, airport and bay

A long staircase leads into the old town of Baracoa
