Castillo *** is located in the old Spanish fort Fuerte de
Soboruco from which the city and the bay could be kept an eye on
The rooms at the back, especially on the higher floors have wonderful views of the bay, the city and the anvil-shaped mountain Yunque
We were one of the lucky ones who had this wonderful view

of the Spanish governor-general, Don Francisco Guemes, the fort tooks between 1739 and 1741 its present form, as
one of the three forts that had to stop piracy
In 1900 Leonhard Wood, the former
U.S. governor-general of Cuba, ordered the reconstruction of the Castillo
El
Castillo hotel has 34 rooms that are spacious and clean and have
air conditioning, TV, fridge, safe and a balcony
The hotel has a swimming pool with sun beds, restaurant and bar which offer nice views of the town, airport and bay
A long staircase leads into the old town of Baracoa
