Padre Pico, in the Tivoli neighborhood, is one of the most famous streets of
Santiago de Cuba
The staircase "Padre Pico" has 52 steps, grouped
into 13 blocks
of 4 steps each
The staircase was built in 1899 by order of the
mayor Emilio Bacardi Moreau and officially inaugurated on October 2, 1903
At the
top you have a beautiful view on the street
It was Emilio Bacardí how proposed the name
"Padre Pico" in honor of Bernardo del Pico Redin, a former priest who
was very popular in Santiago de Cuba by his beneficent work in Belen's Convent
