Around the Plaza de San Francisco in Havana used to live rich merchants

Plaza de San Francisco is located on the harbor and was formerly a long time the center of domestic trade and transhipment

Here you will also find the "Trade Fair" that was renovated in 1996 and two storey increased

Around the square formerly wealthy merchants lived here

Already in 1573 monks built their monastery and church and the Plaza was for centuries a major place in mission work

The church and convent were completed in 1731

The remarkably high bell tower you can climb and then you seem to have a nice view of Havana

The church is due to its good acoustics and often used
as a concert space

On the port side is the terminal Sierra Maestra and the customs

Now however, there are no cargo boats anymore but cruise ships

The fountain Fuente de los Leones next to the Franciscan monastery adorns the square since 1838
