The
town of Sancti Spiritus, founded in 1514 has 90,000 inhabitants
and is one
of the first cities in Cuba
It`s a charming colonial city that`s well worth a
visit
The core of the city is the historic stone bridge "Puente Rio
Yayabo"
from 1825 which is now a protected monument
Calle Padre Quintero and side streets has restored and painted
houses and the streets are repaved
Calle Independencia Sur is a pleasant pedestrian area with
shops and a market
The beautifully restored Plaza Hotel is located on the east side of the Plaza Mayor
and on the terrace you have an good view on the square
The well maintained Plaza Mayor has beautiful colonial buildings
Parroquial Mayor del Espiritu Santo is the oldest church in Sancti Spiritus
The church dates from 1680, the tower has three floors and a roof from 1771
