The
Museo de la Ciudad is housed in the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales and
located on the lovely Plaza de Armas with its bookstalls
It was built between
1776 and 1791 to 1899 and was the headquarters of the Spanish governors
Then it
was the official residence of the President of the Republic to 1920 and the town
hall until 1967
The building features a magnificent colonnade
If epitome of sophistication was on the front of the house the road paved with wooden pavers so there would be no sound of passing carriages
At the middle of the courtyard is a statue of Christopher Columbus from the nineteenth century
The ground floor was used as storage
The mezzanine was for the servants and the first floor was for the residents
Here you can see beautiful porcelain, tapestries, chandeliers and furniture in Louis XV style
