Gran Teatro de La Habana is the oldest theater that`s still
active in Latin America

The theater was inaugurated on April 15, 1838 and is known far beyond the borders of the island

After a number of reforms, on the outside and inside, the building received its present form

In its history it has also called National Grand Theater and
Theater Garcia Lorca

The current building was reopened in 1915 and is now one of the finest buildings in the Cuban capital

Since its inception the most prestigious ballet companies has danced here

Since 1965 the theater is the permanent home of the National Ballet of Cuba

Since 1985, on the initiative of Alicia Alonso, the entire building was renamed the Gran Teatro de La Habana

We have given the doorman a CUC per person and were allowed to enter the beautiful theater and admired the inside

In the hall is a model of the theater

After you enter the hall you see an impressive staircase and marble decorations
